Frome College is closing early for half term closing from today (February 17) because of the arrival of Storm Eunice.

The school was due to close on Friday for a week's holiday.

But this afternoon (February 17) the Principal told parents and carers via letter that they were shutting a day early.

She wrote:

As I am sure you are aware, there is a red weather warning forecast for tomorrow. This means that college campus will be closed tomorrow to all students and staff, work will be set for lessons missed.

Because of the weather warning, we cannot guarantee virtual learning will be consistent, therefore lessons missed will be set on Frog. Revision sessions timetabled over the half term holiday will be confirmed on Monday 21st February. I trust that you will have a safe and happy half term holiday.

Somerset subsequently announced that :All schools, early years, colleges and other Council services across Somerset will be closed tomorrow (Friday 18 February) due to 'Do not travel' red weather warnings in place from 7am to midday.

All waste collections are suspended with recycling centres and libraries closed. Park & Ride services will continue to run, but expect some disruption. For all public transport please keep an eye on local operators' social media accounts for updates.
