During work experience week, students from Frome College will be helping with a market research project in the town centre.
Students will hit the streets between 8 and 12 July asking businesses and shops in the town centre what they see as the key positive aspects of the town, as well as any areas they think need work.
Town centre users will also have the chance to air their views through completing a survey with the students who will be out and about in the town throughout the week.
Mayor Mark Dorrington said: "It's a great opportunity for the students to gain valuable market research experience by taking part in this important exercise for the town.
"The information helps Frome Town Council learn more about how businesses and users feel about the town centre and what can be improved upon."
Through visiting shops and businesses, the students gain experience of face-to-face interviewing, as well as writing up a report and preparing a PowerPoint presentation of their findings which they will present to councillors and Frome Town Council staff at the end of the week.
The exercise is part of the nationwide People and Places Insight Town Benchmarking programme where the information gathered is used to see how Frome compares on a national level with other similar sized towns.
