Left hanging - no need for uniform when Frome College returns in September

The largest senior school in Frome has confirmed that if, when, pupils return in September uniform will not be needed.

In a letter to parents Principal Emma Reynold gave an update saying that they have decided uniform will not be worn because any clothing will need more frequent washing.

She wrote : " Looking ahead to September and the new academic year, clearly some measures to prevent the spread of COVID19 will remain in action. Whilst we wait for some more clarity on this, I would like to inform parents and students that, in line with a number of other Frome schools, uniform will not be obligatory from September to December

2020 to allow for more frequent washing of clothing."

Pupils in Years 10 and 12 are currently undertaking single face to face sessions at the College to discuss teaching plans.

However there is no news yet on any formal return to more usual school day.

The Principal went on to thank Selwood Rotary who, with Wainwright Quarries, have funded Ebbie's Kitchen to provide a hot meal twice a week for those students who are the children of key workers and/or vulnerable.

She wrote: " This initiative has been warmly welcomed by our students and made a real positive impact on their college day."
