Frome Community Bike Project has reached its Crowdfunder total.

They raised over £30,000 thanks to the enormous generosity of the Frome community.

The Crowdfunder campaign was live from 1st September to 9th October and gave people the option of donating money to the project or donating and claiming a reward. Many of the rewards came from Frome's local businesses who get special thanks for their generosity. Rewards ranged from workshops to meals out to bouldering. They are also extremely grateful to Sport England and British Cycling who contributed £16,000 to the campaign.

All of the money raised will be used to purchase storage space and set up a shared bike workshop. Any money left over from setting up the space will be put towards getting solar panels installed to reduce the group's reliance on the grid and reduce the impact of increased costs of electricity.

Once it is up and running the project will recycle donate bicycles, teach bike maintenance skills and cycle confidence classes.

They say : " We hope that we'll be able to help with reducing costs for a lot of people in Frome by providing low cost bikes, teaching new skills and increasing confidence to cycle more. "
