A local Frome company got national media exposure over the weekend when it was highlighted in a national newspaper for being super community and ethically minded, along with being 'off the beaten track.'
The company, More Wine, was listed with other local companies across the UK as being particularly sustainable, as it sells wine by the box and pouch.
But during the coronavirus lockdown the company has also slashed its prices, hoping that customers pass the goodwill on, specifically to key NHS workers, by sharing the wine.
In normal times the company's biggest business is supplying restaurants, bars and pubs.
Now they are offering free delivery to Frome, and Bristol, but they also wanted to send a big positive message of thanks to those working in the health service. Owner Rich Hamblin explained that they wanted to help out the NHS, but couldn't find an easy way to give them all special thanks by offering them some wine. So the pay-it-forward idea was born. He said: " Just to clarify we are not directly donating to key workers. We set this up as we could not find a realistic mechanism to offer a discount to NHS, etc – nor could we easily reach a large number of workers." So by offering the discount he said the company hoped that their customers [B.] would pass on their gratitude. He added: " We have sold well over 100 boxes of wine at below cost to encourage and facilitate others to do so. Our price remains heavily discounted at this time to continue to encourage this. The onus remains on the purchaser to share some community love via the gift of wine." You can contact the company here the More Wine web site
