In line with national figures the latest positive coronavirus cases locally are falling - however hospital admissions are up.

The data, from July 25, shows the numbers testing positive for coronavirus across Mendip have fallen by 9.9% over the past seven days to a daily total of 42.

Meantime the number of admissions to the Royal United Hospital are up 69 % with 22 people now in the hospital with coronavirus.

As of July 23, according to government data, the estimated R number for the South West, that is the infection growth rate, has increased for 1.3 to 1.5.

Over in Street, from July 29, there will be a PCR testing site at the overflow car park in Strode College.

That is the test you need to check if you get a lateral flow test which shows a positive result, and also the test you need for travelling.

The test site organisers have said to Nub News to stress that the testing is is not being managed by Strode College, so please do not come into the college reception.
