Frome resident have started to join forces with a collective for sharing help and information around the town.

That has included pleas for donations to Fair Frome, which runs the local foodbank, which is currently running low on all supplies.

They also run dinner clubs for the more vulnerable in the town.

The biggest social media group in the town has started an on-line information collective, where people can offer to help, get telephone numbers for charities and details on which food companies are offering home deliveries.

Meantime, as shoppers report that the big supermarkets have no local delivery slots for at least three weeks, the community of Mells has already started its own home shopping service.

The Village Shop, following a suggestion by Sue Hanscomb, is planning a volunteer service to deliver essential supplies to people in the five parishes (Mells and Vobster, Chantry, Whatley, Buckland Dinham and Great Elm).

A comment on their local social media states: "If you find yourself in this situation you can phone an order in (01373 812251) and someone will deliver. If you do not already have an account with the shop, you will be able to set up a temporary one."
