With the opportunities for cosplay ended due to coronavirus, this Frome local has found a great way to dust off his ghostbuster outfit.

And because of a family tragedy - this Critchill estate born and bred Fromie will be raising money for the NHS.

Wiltshire Council data analyst, Matt Sims with his wife Suzi and baby daughter, is normally best known as the Frome Ghostbusting team. But with all events now cancelled, they will be out doing their own convention, walking every evening from May 2 for a total of 19km to raise money for our NHS heroes as part of the "CoronaBusters Challenge".

Matt, who has a special additional reason for gratitude for the NHS said: " We'll be walking about 3km a day for just under a week during our normal allowance of daily exercise but will be doing so with ghostbusting unlicensed nuclear accelerators strapped to our backs.

" Give us a wave if you're in the Critchill area but please keep your distance. We wouldn't want to accidentally spread any ghosts, ghouls and viruses by mistake."

He explained why he has an extra reason to be grateful to the NHS.

He told Nub News : "My dad passed away on the 30th March, and while it was not connected to Coronavirus, the stress put on the NHS, because of it, didn't really help the situation. However, we can't fault the work of the 999 handlers and paramedics. "

Under the Coronavirus crisis, ghost elimination is, unfortunately, not regarded as an "essential service" - so pretty much all the local conventions and events have been cancelled for this year.

Matt added: " We've been getting a little bit angsty stuck at home. So, we are doing this just to help raise a bit of money for the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 appeal and also the South Western Ambulance Charity by going on our "government approved" daily walk while dressed up and wearing our screen-accurate ghostbusting gear and equipment for a bit of a laugh.

"Some days we'll be wearing proton packs, others we might be carrying ghost traps and if anyone is looking we might do some investigating of any spooky PKE meter readings we find along the way. "

The Ghostbusting trail, should you wish to give them a call , will follow a route along Critchill road, up to Oakfield school, down into Badcox, up through Victoria park and then back to Critchill again.

The family have been cosplaying as the Frome Ghostbusters since 2017, but as you can see from the photo, they have been fans for years.
