Theatre company Rare Species CIC from Frome have been awarded a High Sheriff of Somerset "Special Recognition" Award for their online fitness classes Mojo Moves during the pandemic.

Mojo Moves is a unique fitness programme which combines comedy theatre with proper exercise and crosses over multiple genres to appeal to many groups. It is run by the warm, charismatic & kind Cheryl Sprinkler and the fabulous Tony DiMonté (aka real life partners, comedy performer & fitness instructor Ginny Adams and comedy performer Nelly Fowler).

The family run business had been operating live until lockdown for 2 years in Frome, Somerset where the community have really taken Cheryl & Tony into their hearts.

Now online, the Mojo Moves community has grown across Somerset and the whole of the UK due, in part, to a new project for 2020/21 supported by the government's

Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund to provide free online aerobics sessions for vulnerable groups including people with long term health conditions and children & young adults with special educational needs.

"People have been signing up from as far as Kilmarnock", says company co-founder Ginny Adams, "it's so important to us as a community interest Company that we can support the most vulnerable people during these unusual times and are able to offer a fun way to stay active and boost people's moods for free"

The strapline is "Reclaim your mojo back from the universe" and it is as much about instilling positive mental health as physical fitness and has been life changing for many regular participants.

The new project is to run for six months from September 30th and there will be two free online sessions a week on Wednesdays; a seated version for people living with conditions such as MS, ME, chronic fatigue and cancer at 11am and a disco with aerobics for SEN children & young adults to enjoy with their parents or carers at 5 pm.
