If you heard the Frome fire service out today (December 16) around 3am this is why.
Avon fire control took a call and passed it to Devon and Somerset after a report of a fire in an upstairs bedroom of a property in Hemington - the village between Frome and Radstock.
Reports were that the people in the bedroom of the house were trapped and unable to exit.
One fire appliance from Frome, one from Radstock, one from Bath and one from Warminster, as well as a number of fire officers attended the incident.
On arrival the crews confirmed there was a fire in the upstairs bedroom of the property but it had been extinguished by the occupants prior to the arrival of the fire service.
Crews used rapid deployment to ensure the fire didn't spread. Two breathing apparatus sets, one hose reel jet, one thermal imagine camera and one fire extinguisher were used. A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to ventilate the property.
All occupants were safe and well and the fire service declared the incident closed at just before 6 am.
To help keep safe this Christmas, the fire service has released the top three reasons for house fires across the Devon and Somerset force HERE and how to avoid them.
