Motorists are being warned that fuel prices are likely to get even higher with wholesale oil prices today (March 7) at the highest level since July 2008 after the US said it was discussing a potential ban on Russian supplies with other countries.

Brent crude was above $139 a barrel, before falling back a bit today (10 am ) to around $130.

One wholesale fuel supplier told the BBC that prices could increase by a further 12%.

The highest price petrol Nub News has found locally was at the Esso garage in Midsomer Norton, which broke £1.60 a litre for unleaded on March 4.
