The former Frome and Nunny charity treasurer extraordinaire Owen Hillier, who Nub News reported on two weeks ago, has now raised just over £17, 000 for the local hospice.

Walking 100 metres every day, the 98 year old has now clocked up two kilometres - directly raising over £9,000 - which together with gift aid now means he has collected £17,323 . He set out to raise £1,000.

Owen, who many will know from his time with the Friends of Frome Hospital and for lots of charities in Nunney where he usually lives, wants to raise as much as he can for Dorothy House in memory of his grandson James who was killed in a car accident in March 2007 .

He was part of Bomber Comand in Kilmington during the war and received an MBE for his civic work.

His daughter Sue told Nub News: " The more dad can raise the better . He is going to carry on walking until the end of lockdown. When it's raining he has done his laps indoors to date he has walked 2km. "
