The organisers of The Frome Independent, the huge outdoor market which brings tens of thousands of visitors into the town at least £3 million into the local economy a year has pencilled in a possible return date of August 1.

Although the organisation are keen to stress, that nothing can be set in stone, until further guidance from the government regarding coronavirus restrictions.

The market, which was started in 2009 as a not for profit company as St Catherine's Artisan Market, attracts around 80,000 visitors a year. It typically has over 200 traders and estimates at the income coming into Frome, excluding taken by the hospitality sector has been put at £3million, although that figure is from 2016.

The market is staged on first Sunday of the month from March to December throughout Frome town centre.

The earliest possible date for a return would be August 1.

On their social media page the team posted: " We'd like to, once again, send our admiration and solidarity to our friends and colleagues working in live events, whose industry and livelihoods have weathered a huge amount of precariousness and uncertainty over the past year. We miss you and can't wait to be safely reunited with you all!"
