The closing celebration of The Kindness Challenge and Festival, with music from Frome Street Bandits will be tomorrow (March 11).

The Festival has been on the streets and in the halls and the library of the town for the past week.

Lead partners included Frome Town Council and Frome Medical Centre, which used the Festival as an opportunity to support their charity of the year, Active and In Touch. Their kindness challenges included a sponsored bike ride, with the aim of virtually crossing the channel, with the aim of raising enough money to fund at least the first 100 cups of tea and coffee when Active and In Touch open a cafe based in Frome Medical Centre later in the spring.

Elswhere there were talks and discussion groups, reading sessions and, overarching it all, a wish that we were all that bit kinder. Hence the Kind wish 'fairy' who was out an about at the Frome Independent last Sunday.

Frome Street Bandits are, in the words posted on Discover Frome " a semi-autonomous anarchic syndicalist community of musicians honking in Frome. Formed in 2008, from a strong conviction that music is social, communal and transformational, they believe that music should be free from the shackles of electrickery and allowed to parade the streets of villages, towns and cities across the world.
