Last week I enjoyed being able to support Frome Town Rotary in their fundraising efforts this week as they gathered outside the library to promote their Family Treasure Hunt. They're raising funds for The Pod, which is a charity supporting young people and adults with additional needs, including young carers and their families.

There's also been a lot of work going on down by the river pathway by the bridge these past weeks, as the Frome Town Rangers have been smartening up the area that's dedicated to Chateau Gontier, one of Frome's twin towns in France. They're also planning to make use of the ornate railings that were originally in Cork Street featuring the wrought iron picture of St. Aldhelm. It's being cleaned up and should look fabulous, so keep your eyes on it and let us know what you think.

As many of you know, I like to do a weekly walkabout and last week went up to Badcox to check in with some of our local businesses there and find out how they're doing post lockdown. My thanks go to Annette & Paul from Frome Traditional Fish & Chips, Phillip from Pizza Folk, Thea from Lotte's, Adrian from Cayford Butcher and Sarah and Sophie from Parsons bakery. Both the butcher and the baker are third generation businesses and it's wonderful to see them still thriving! They were all able to tell me that business is buoyant and that they're all feeling pretty optimistic, so thank you to all of you who are supporting these great local outlets and let's all keep shopping locally!

As you'll know, it was V.J. Day last Saturday celebrating to end of World War 2. I attended a service at Wells Cathedral at the invitation of the Dean of Wells, to commemorate the occasion and it was a wonderful service. It's good for us all to remember the sacrifices that were made to give us the freedoms we have today, and it was an honour to represent Frome and to show our respect to all those who fought for us.

With many new indoor activities being open to us this week following their lockdown, there's even more reason to be cautious about the way we behave. So please keep your distance, keep wearing those masks where you need to, and keep washing those hands.

Stay safe, everyone and have a good week!
