Frome Medical Practice celebrates the 75th anniversary of the NHS
The team at Frome Medical Practice recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of the NHS with a series of events, joining colleagues around the country who marked the occasion.
The practice started with a gathering of staff and representatives from partner organisations for an 'official' anniversary photo. Practice Manager Karen Creffield said, "We wanted to do something special to mark the anniversary, which also captured the essence of our amazing team. Coming together in our staff wellbeing garden felt like the perfect venue to do this. Standing together outside was not only fun, it reminded us in quite a poignant way we were celebrating an important moment in history together. We were joined by our Patient Participation Group Chair and by colleagues from Frome Town Council and Edventure: Frome, as we also wanted to include the key relationships at the heart of what we do."
The team photograph was taken by Rob Irving, one of the Care Navigators at the practice, who is also an award-winning photographer. Rob created a photo collage with inspiration taken from artists such as Rodney Graham and Pipilotti Rist
Karen added, "We love that the photo makes us look like flowers stretching up to the light. The shape of the 75 was mapped out using the NHS font - as a team we love creativity and attention to detail!"
The celebrations continued on 5th July when the team at the practice were treated to gelato from local company, Palette and Pasture, who set up their mobile gelato trailer outside the practice.
Finally, several members of the team took part in the local parkrun at the end of the 75th anniversary week. The team were joining in with the national 'parkrun for the NHS', a chance for parkruns and their local communities to acknowledge the huge contribution that the NHS makes to the health of the nation and to celebrate all the staff and volunteers, past and present, who have made the NHS what it is.
Helen Kingston, Senior Partner at the practice joined in with the parkrun and said, "We were delighted several members of the team joined in with the parkrun for the NHS. We are a parkrun practice and next-door neighbour to The Old Showfield parkrun and so it was important for us to take part as a team and to show that parkrun really is something that anyone can join in with, whether as a runner, jogger, walker or volunteer. We all enjoyed taking part and would encourage others to join in with this regular Saturday morning community event."
