Two members of the team at Frome Medical Practice have been shortlisted for awards in the South West General Practice Nursing Awards, which take place on 13th June.

The members of the team who have been shortlisted are:

Julie Cox - shortlisted in the 'Unsung Hero 'category, for people who are not nurses but have supported nurses to deliver their work. Julie's nomination is related to her work ensuring follow up of patients who don't respond to invitations to attend cervical screening and chronic disease reviews.

Claire Smart - shortlisted for the 'Patient Centred Care and Leadership 'Award for her work in establishing a Primary Care Network Community Diagnostic Centre and ensuring its success, improving the respiratory care provided to patients.

Karen Creffield, Practice Manager, said: "We are delighted that two of the team have made the shortlist for the awards this year. Julie's work is vital in ensuring we get as many patients through screening and chronic disease reviews each year - no mean feat when we have a practice population of almost 30,000 patients. The work Claire has undertaken on the respiratory care we provide to patients means we are offering an increased number of respiratory focused appointments to patients, at the same time as reducing our carbon impact through more sustainable prescribing. We are really proud that Julie and Claire have reached the final of what are really competitive awards."

The South West General Practice Nursing Awards are organised by NHS England South West and are a celebration of the excellence of nurses who work in general practice and the pivotal role they play in population hea
