At Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions time Frome MP David Warburton is to raise the urgent issue of poor local access to coronavirus boosters.

The MP is particularly concerned for the housebound and those living in rural areas.

David explained, "Vaccinations continue to be our main line of defence against COVID-19, but media reports indicate that more than 300,000 housebound Britons have yet to receive their Covd-19 booster and many elderly and vulnerable people are up to 10 weeks overdue for their third dose." He continued, "I've been contacted by an increasing number of constituents in this position, unable to get a booster due to the lack of local vaccination centres and lack of boosters being administered to the house-bound or those needing special care. Others in my constituency simply have little or no access to transport and the booster centres are often an enormous distance away and impossible for them to reach."

"On Wednesday at Prime Minister's Questions I will be asking the Prime Minister how he intends urgently to improve access to vaccination centres in our rural areas, and I intend to meet with the Secretary of State for Health to get to the bottom of this and seek a quick remedy to ensure my constituents can get their boosters and stay protected this winter."

Across the constituency of Somerton and Frome there have been nearly 38,000 boosters administered to date to people aged 12 and over; in the Mendip District Council area this equates to just 37% and in South Somerset District Council 38% of people.
