In recent planning decisions in and around Frome this week:
The former home of Frome's famous foundry owner John Singer - which is on Market Place - could be turned back into living space.
The owners of Number 25 on the Market Place have applied to create two small flats above what is currently an opticians. Planners learnt that the mid 19th Century building is four storeys high, and while the ground floor is currently occupied by the owners, Eyetech Opticians, the rest of the building is not being used, apart from some storage and office space on the first floor occupied for free by Frome Festival.
The application is for change of use for the upper floors to provide one one bedroom and one two bedroomed flat.
The application is open for comment under referenceNo: 2020/1957/LBC .
An energy company has put in an application to build a Transitional Hybrid Energy Project facility on land at Chicks Lane, in Chewton Mendip. The proposed development will comprise two containerised generators connected to the mains gas grid. The project say the developers, means that the national energy system can meet surges in demand without the need for new, large scale power generating facilities. Details under Ref. No: 2020/1910/FUL .
Householders who have already got permission to convert a barn at Millards Hill in Trudoxhill, have applied to build a plant room and double garage. Open for comments under Ref. No: 2020/1914/FUL
