In a sign that it is not far off opening, the new B&Q Express store due to open in January 2022, has applied to put up some signs on the site on the approach to the railway station. The company wants to install three illuminated and four non-illuminated signs. Details under Ref. No: 2021/2574/ADV.

In a planning decision made over in Mendip, the cafe that is used by taxi drivers at Station Approach in Frome, close to that B&Q store, has been awarded a change of use. The owner, who has been operating the cafe since 2013, said in the application that she was told by the previous owner that the relevant planning permissions had been obtained. She did not need to apply for planning permission for the unit, but needed to apply for change of use. She wrote : " The cafe offers a takeaway service and has seating inside for eight. The cafe caters for rail users and provides a service for the light industrial units nearby, for taxi drivers and also for the Frome community that can afford to eat and drink here rather than other cafes in Frome which are more expensive and may not be accessible to our clients. "

An application for the reconfiguration of the car park to improve vehicular circulation around the former Carphone Warehouse building on Wessex Fields on the Marston Road in Frome, has been approved. The plans are to turn the building into a Greggs store with a small seating area outside.

Planners have approved an application to lower a garden terrace and construction of pergola at 23 Vicarage Street in Frome.

They have also approved plans to re-roof, insulate, and replace lead flashings and gulleys at 5A Paul Street in Frome.

Planners have approved an application to cut back a Magnolia, reduce the height of a Plum and reduce the height of an Apple Tree, at

Rode Baptist Church on the High Street.
