Frome RFC Junior Match Report | U14's

This Sunday, the Frome Under 14's travelled to Weymouth & Portland RFC, for their Dorset and Wilts League match.

A quick tap, following an early scrum penalty for Frome, led to a breakaway try for Toby Cassidy. The attempted conversation striking the posts. Three more tries followed in quick succession, the second try was a breakaway from Toby. Crisp passing from the backs led to the third try, this time for Archie Pearn. Following real intensity in the ruck, Ewan Cox dived onto a turnover and ran down the blindside from halfway, scoring under the posts.

Weymouth exerted some real pressure on Frome, with two line-outs and a good line break almost leading to a try. The defence held firm. Frome turned over and a fifth try of the half was scored for Frome, when Aaron Worrell and Alfie Newbery linked up well, from the back of a scrum, to put Toby in - down the wing. Archie, battling against a stiff wind, kicked four consecutive conversations.

Weymouth continued to battle hard and had a good deal of possession to start the second half. A strong tackle and turnover from Harry Greenwood, led to two phases of quick passing and Zach Sibley scored in the left corner. Continued scrum dominance led to Weymouth being marched further back, more quick hands led to another try for Archie. The final try proved to be a fatal blow to Weymouth, a set move from the back of a scrum led to a line break. A phase later, Oscar Stickley and Archie linked up, passing right, then left led to a final try for the Number 10, who had moved to outside centre. Archie converted his own try, to take Frome to an unassailable 0-50 victory.

The two teams shared food, speeches and drinks in the clubhouse afterwards. Frome would like to wish Weymouth & Portland RFC good luck and to thank them for their hospitality.
