Well done the team
Well done the team

Frome arrived at Westbury fresh from having the previous week off and with the sunshine out in all its glory, it was set to be a great attacking game.

Straight from the kick off Frome showed their intentions and ran hard at Westbury gaining a scrum on the 10 metre line. No.8 Rob James went blind feeding Scrum Half Garrie Webster who showed great hands to get the ball to Winger Kyle Williamson, who stepped inside his man and breaking the covering tackle to score the first try of the game. Leone Naucuikidi added the extras.

Frome received the kick and again pushed hard winning a scrum against the head, allowing James again to take it to the opposition, Frome carried for two more phases before getting the ball out wide and allowing Centre Leone Naucukidi to cross the line. The kick was missed.

Then on 14 mins, Frome were carrying well, with some big carries by Second Row Connor McPherson and Prop Phil Clarke, being well supported by Prop Jason Baraclough and Hooker Matthew King.

Westbury were struggling to cope with the tempo that Frome were playing at and became disjointed allowing Flanker Gordon Grieson to nip though the defence and score under the posts.

On 21 mins, more good phases from the Forwards sucked in the Westbury defence allowing Flanker Grieson to take advantage of the space, and cross the line. Extras added by Naucukidi.

On 22 mins from the kick off Frome were awarded a penalty which Fly Half Dave Abrahams dispatched with five metres of the Westbury line. From the resulting line out, the Forwards showed great control with Prop Clarke benefitting from the drive and crashing over. Kick was missed.

On 31mins Scrum Half Webster showed his experience with a lovely show and go and taking the attack into the Westbury 22, resulting in a penalty. From this penalty all eyes went to Clarke, but Webster dummied him giving it to Grieson who crashed through the gap and over the line. Kick was made by Naucukidi.

On 39 Mins Frome lost Scrum Half Webster to a hand injury, with Ethan White coming onto the Wing and Lepani Kolinisau moving into Scrum Half.

On 40mins second Row Mark Regler made way for Aprisalome Tuiwakaya, and Grierson making way for Damon Ashmore.

On 41 mins Frome were struck another blow with Kolinisau having to come off, so a reshuffle saw Fly half Dave Abrahams go to Scrum Half and versatile Matt King going into the Fly Half position with Grierson coming back on in the Front Row.

This slowed down the Frome progress until 52mins when King fed James into a gap, who was just tackled outside the 22, with King in support who took the pop pass and sprint clear of the defence and touch down under the posts. Extras added by Naucukidi.

More line breaks followed by McPherson, Ashmore and Milton. On 56 mins Ashmore made a line break and fed King who just couldn't find the final pass. From the resulting Scrum Frome were awarded a Penalty which went to Prop Clarke who crashed over. Naucukidi added the extras.

Then on 59 mins Prop Clarke broke free with a long way to go, he was still going into the 22 but was brought down with try line begging and knocked on.

From the resulting scrum Frome won it against the head and No.8 Tulwakaya picked up and crashed over the line. Kick was missed.

Then on 65 mins Westbury through caution to the wind and passed it out wide with their Winger showing a great turn of pace and going round the outside and touching down under the posts. Extras added.

Scrum Half Webster came back on again for King and Mark Regler came back on for McPherson.

On 70 mins the frustration got to the Westbury Centre who come in late for a tackle on Scrum Half Webster. The referee awarded the Westbury player a yellow card.

On 71 mins put some great phases which lead to Centre Cory Plumridge having lots of space out wide, with the Centre dummying the last man and crossing the line. Kick was missed.

Then on 76mins Westbury learning from the previous attack did the same again, went out wide and their wing out paced the defence and scoring in the corner. Kick was missed.

On 79 mins Frome played their way into the Westbury 22, when Second Row Regler spotted a gap in the break down and picked up and ran straight through the middle of the defence to touch down. Kick was missed.

FT: Westbury RFC 12 - 69 Frome RFC II

Player of The Match was awarded to Scrum Half Garrie Webster for a fine first half performance, ran Westbury ragged keeping the defence on the back foot and bossing his forwards. Great display.

This rearranged fixture now continues to see the Frome RFC 2nd XV at the top of Dorset & Wilts 1 North, but have an extremely tough fixture this Saturday when they travel to Royal Wooton Bassett RFC 2nd XV.
