After an eight-year tenure, Chris Turner, the musical director of Frome Town Band, will be passing on the baton.

Reflecting on his time with the band, Chris said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my journey with the band, and it's with a heavy heart that I bid farewell."

Aside from guiding weekly rehearsals and conducting concerts, Chris spearheaded initiatives like the Frome Town Bands schools project, providing numerous children with the chance to explore brass instruments. Under his stewardship, the band has flourished, boasting a membership of over 50 individuals spanning various ages and skill levels.

His departure leaves behind sizable shoes to fill.

"We're seeking someone who can nurture the band's growth and contribute to Frome's vibrant community spirit," said Kirstie Jones, chair of the Frome Town Band committee.

While Chris remains at the helm for the spring season, the search is underway for a suitable successor. For those interested in this opportunity or learning more about the band, visit their website at www.frometownband.com.
