On Friday, Frome U14's welcomed Midsomer Norton to The Lane, a great Friday night crowd, enjoyed a competitive game of rugby.

The game started with a bang, Norton latching onto a knock on, to crash over from 5 meters out. Frome replied after 10 minutes, with a silky try. Freddie Corp hooked his second ball, on the oppositions put in at the scrum, Harry Greenwood picked up expertly from the base of the scrum, drawing the defence and releasing Archie Pearn, who ran in from 20 meters.

Next there were three scrums in quick succession, Norton again crashed over, following a break from their 22. Rob Norris and Sonnie Kerslake tackled well on the half-way line, this led to a breakaway from Olly Merrit, who put Kacper Martynovic into space. He was well tackled. Norton gave away a penalty in their own 22, Pearn running in from the penalty to put the score at 10 - 10 at half-time.

The second half started, following a number of changes from Frome. Adam Hancock carried well, with Greenwood and Ewan Cox protecting the ball, the backs were then unleashed - quick hands fed Harrie Webster who finished well. This meant Frome were leading for the first time, a lead the would never relinquish.

Frome's fourth try followed five minutes later, another strong Frome scrummage, led to quick hands. Alfie Newbery spun wide to Pearn, who found Jonas Mills. After a dummy, he fed Zach Sibley, before popping the ball to Aelfric Bidder - who ran through strongly, under the posts, the try was converted by Webster, to make the score 22 - 10.

Three tries from the home side followed in the next 10 minutes, as Frome continued to dominate. Quick ball from a line-out sent Pearn and Toby Cassidy barrelling forwards, Toby was half-tackled, but he found an offload to Sibley, who ran well to run in the try. The crowd were finding their voice, cheering on the quick ball and try scoring.

Next, was one of the best of the evening, Newbery spotted space and sent a cross-field grubber across the pitch. It was picked up well by Cassidy who dragged in the defence before slipping the ball to the supporting Mills, who finished well.

The final try, in the last play of the game, came from an incisive break from Webster from full back. He was tackled on the line and Norris crashed over, with two defenders attempting to tackle him. The final score was 37 - 10.

With a few games left of the season, both teams played their part, in an entertaining game. Frome coming out on top.
