Like many schools across the UK, Avanti Park School in Frome are keen to mark Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee with the planting of a special tree to commemorate the occasion.

Well, a Cherry Tree to be precise, it will form part of their special 'Japanese corner' of their lovely school grounds. This UK wide tree planting initiative is wholeheartedly encouraged and supported by the Royal household; it also ties in very well with Avanti Park's outward approach to all matters 'green'.

A group of children from Year 6 are pictured here with Ms Liz Clarke their enthusiastic Outdoor & Forest School Leader. One of the children said: "This is such an amazing idea as trees and plants are really important and we would not be here otherwise. It is better than getting a special toy or mug to remember this special day."

Ms Clarke reminisces of a time when she was made a beautiful dress made of red, blue and white to wear for the silver jubilee and how she wore it with great pride! However, you wish to mark the day, we hope everyone celebrates her Majesty's 70-year long reign in their own special way.
