Are you interested in renewable energy for your home, but not sure where to start?
Frome Town Council and Frome Renewable Energy Co-op (FRECo) are working with local solar installer IDDEA with the next stage in the Frome Solar Streets project. The collective project offers significantly discounted solar PV panels for Frome residents when 10 or more households sign up.
The Solar Streets team are hosting an online information evening on Tuesday 11th May 7pm – 8pm so residents can find out more. The session will guide you through the installation process, provide information about new technologies which maximise panel output and savings of around 1.5 tonnes of carbon a year.
Frome's Solar Streets was first launched in back in 2019 and between April and December 2019, 70 installations had taken place. The scheme has also enabled 9kw of solar to be donated to Vallis Road Community Centre, match funded by FRECo.
Director of FRECo and Cllr, Lizzie Boyle adds: "Everyone can play their part in Frome's commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030, solar panels are one way. The discounted scheme is made possible because IDDEA can install the solar panels in bulk, saving time, transport, and emissions. All it takes is 10 households to take up the offer, and they don't have to be all in one street. This scheme is great as once installed, you can save money on your electricity bills and reduce your carbon footprint".
