Frome's Accidental Book Festival

A new book festival is set to take place in Frome between the 7th and 29th September and Raven wants it to be a sell out success.

"The only thing we love more than when a plan comes together is when something wonderful emerges as if by magic!" says Tina Gaisford-Waller of Winstone's Hunting Raven Books in Frome.

"Last year, we ran our first Frome Lit Fest which was enormous fun and a big success. But due to the rather uncertain outlook for festivals across the country, plans to follow up with a second festival in 2023 were sadly put on ice.

"But the offer of events from some seriously wonderful authors and publishers kept on flooding in and we kept on saying yes. And, as a result, we have accidentally curated a truly magical, impromptu book festival this September!

"It seemed only right to call it The Accidental Book Festival!" says Tina. "We hope for the Frome Lit Fest to return properly in future years, complete with a fun-packed kids' element. But this 'mini-fest' for adults will help bridge that space until such time."

The Accidental Book Festival runs from the 7th to the 29th September with seven beautifully balanced and totally absorbing events on the programme; spanning fiction, memoir, nature writing, travel and much more – with award-winning and critically acclaimed authors on the list. Events are held in various venues across the town. Tickets are £6 per event, but a Festival Pass is available for £35 which gives holders the chance to see each and every event.

"As this has been such an impromptu affair, we really need the support of our community to help us get word out. We want to pack these spaces and give the writers the audiences they deserve."

The full programme can be viewed online at www.bit.ly/accidentalbookfestival and flyers with the details can be picked up from the shop. Tickets can be booked both online (at the above address), by calling 01373 473111, or by popping into Winstone's Hunting Raven Books on Cheap Street, Frome. Keep up to date with all the festival news by following Hunting Raven online on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Just go to your favourite socials site and search for 'Hunting Raven Books'.
