Sarah Dyke MP has written to YMCA Brunel Group to congratulate them on receiving £804,668 in grant funding for Frome Youth and Community Centre.

YMCA Brunel Group were successful in applying for funding from the Youth Investment Centre for Frome Youth and Community Centre. The funding is through the Department for Culture, Media & Sport.

Sarah Dyke, Liberal Democrat MP for Somerton & Frome, said: 'I am delighted to see that this funding has been secured. In Frome we have recently seen a rise in anti-social behaviour, which has a harmful impact on our communities.'

'This funding will help improve Frome Youth and Community Centre and will provide young people in Frome with a place where they can go to enjoy their time with friends in a safe environment.'

'Frome Youth and Community Centre has been doing fantastic work for the community, so I would like to thank them for their hard work and congratulate them on securing this funding. I am excited to see the benefits this will have on our community.'

Frome has witnessed a rise in anti-social behaviour, with constituents getting in touch with Sarah to share their concerns. It is hoped that the additional funding Frome Youth and Community Centre will receive will help to combat this issue. Sarah will also be meeting with local police to discuss related issues soon.

The Liberal Democrats have called for the Government to urgently reinvest in youth services to help steer young people away from anti-social behaviour, pledging to provide a £500m ringfenced youth services fund. This will help support local authorities to repair the damage done to youth services and enable them to deliver a wide range of services, reach more young people and improve training for youth workers.

The Liberal Democrats have also pledged to create a fund for local authorities to encourage the development of high-quality out-of-school educational activities that are tailored to the local area.
