Full steam ahead for Friends of Frome Station

Frome Town Hall hosted a busy community meeting recently for the first meeting of the Friends of Frome Station.

Many residents came along to share their views on the station from aspects that could be improved to ultimate wants.

These discussions then led to brainstorming of realistic ideas on how to move the project forward over the next six months.

Cllr Steve Tanner said: "The passion and commitment shown by local residents to making a difference to our town's station is extremely positive.

"The first step is for us to get the initial safety training that will allow us to have a general clean up and weed to get the station looking clean and welcoming for everyone."

Quick win ideas from those in the room ranged from community planting to bring some colour to the station to improving signage, installing a noticeboard to promote local news and events as well as information boards that detail the station's history.

Longer term suggestions included acquiring the empty room at the station and looking at how the space can be used innovatively for the community and cutting-edge arts events.
