The local Frome flower man, Stuart, is a fixture at the Frome cross, twice a week selling lovely flowers.

But on Saturday, just after Frome Nub News bought some blooms from the cheerful trader, he was injured in an accident.

Many locals would have seen the air ambulance at the Cheese & Grain, that was taking him to hospital, after it is understood he was struck by his own van. One leg has been broken and the other has been badly injured - so he will be out of action - and pocket - for some time. Now a crowd funding campaign has started to help him out.

Over £1,200 has already been donated, one sum from Sheffield, who have dubbed Stuart the fabulous flower man from Frome.

Stuart, who grows flowers over in Holcombe posted an update on his condition: "My bottom leg bones of my right leg are broken, the left leg is grazed badly and I consider myself lucky that too isn't broken. Thanks kindly for setting up the go fund me page. Your kindness is quite tear-jerking ( literally). The bones are going to be pinned in the next day or so. Not looking forward to physio. "
