Good environmental news : The South West holds the most renewable energy sites

It is World Enviroment Day today (June 5) and new research using government figures has shown that the South West leads the way in renewable energy.
Heating experts Stelrad have analysed data from the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy to reveal which regions in the UK produce the most renewable energy.
In all there are 871,608 renewable energy site sources across the UK
The South West holds the most renewable energy sites at 123,802, meaning there are 53.3 renewable energy sites for every 1,000 households in the South West That compares to the figure in London which shows that for every 1,000 households, there are 8.2 renewable energy sites Solar energy is the most popular renewable energy source across the UK with the top location for solar energy production being Cornwall with 18,076 solar power sites. Northern Ireland is the worst UK region for renewable energy production with 1,264 renewable energy sites. Chris Harvey, Head of Marketing at Stelrad said: " Renewable energy is the way forward for our household energy and it's fantastic to see such large numbers of renewable energy sites spread across the country. Investing in innovative engineering and resources is crucial for delivering sustainable energy and this shouldn't just be left to certain regions of the country - it has to be a national effort.
