Frome Neighbourhood policing team has revealed the good news that a duck attacked by a group of teenagers in the town has made a full recovery.

At the time the police said that the chance of the duck recovering was 50/50.

But today (Sunday February 7) they posted a photo on their social media pages showing that it was now well.

Last week the officers shared an appeal following an incident where the duck suffered serious injuries after being attacked.

Today they posted a photo of the duck and added : " We are pleased to report that the duck has made a full recovery and has been allowed back out with the other ducks."

However those responsible for the attack have not all been identified.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Sunday (31 January) in Feltham Lane.

The duck was kicked, jumped on and swung around by its neck before being dumped in a nearby field.

Police said that the attack was carried out by a group of five teenagers, who had two dogs with them, including a Springer Spaniel.

The lead offender was white, in his mid-teens, 5ft 10ins, of medium to large build and wearing dark green clothing. Following the attack, he ran off in the Mount direction.

Investigating officer PC Jennifer Shere-Massey said at the time: "This was a particularly disturbing attack on a defenseless bird which caused great distress to those who witnessed it."

Police have renewed their appeal for help.

If you have information which could help, call them on 101 and give the call handler the following reference number 5221021920.
