So today August 11 at lunchtime a warning from Travel Somerset to continue to avoid the M5 if you can.

The current motorway disruption expected to last some hours - the road is closed northbound between J25 and J23 and queuing up to 21/22 northbound and 25/26 southbound.

Earlier today National Highways advised drivers that the M5 was closed northbound between junction 25 (Blackbrook Interchange) and junction 23 (Dunball Interchange).

Emergency services are at the scene and the road is expected to remain closed for some time.

Resulting traffic in Bridgwater is also very severe with very long delays on A38.

They are warning motorists please avoid if you can - plan ahead.
