Last Friday saw the inaugural Hemfest: Party on the Field, at Hemington Primary School. This Jubilee themed celebration raised over £1000 towards new play equipment for the children. Glorious sunshine brought out over 150 parents, families and members of the local community to picnic and dance to one of the region's most popular bands - Open Road - who kindly donated their time. Fantastic support came from The Faulkland Inn, who donated their time and the profits from a BBQ and bar.

The school is also very grateful to members of the community who provided prizes for stalls, the marquee and gazebos and the school's neighbour for allowing parking on their field. Without the generosity of all these people, the event would not have been possible.

Deputy Head Lynn Dixon said "It was wonderful to see the children dancing and having so much fun at the end of term." Hemington Primary is a very small rural school set in a beautiful valley between Radstock and Frome. Attached to the school is Hornbeams Preschool, who also run open Forest Activities for walking toddlers up to 5 years old on Wednesday mornings in term time.
