Barratt Homes has helped Frome Town United's U8's and U10's girls teams tackle their kit conundrum with a donation to sponsor new strips for the 2022-23 season.

Frome Town United is currently setting up a new U8's and U10's squad and when Barratt heard they needed kit, staff were quick to strike with a sponsorship deal for both teams.

Ben Bolland, Head of Girls Football at Frome Town United who is due to move to Barratt Homes' new Delamare Park development in Nunney in the coming months, said: "Frome Town United, which is run completely by volunteers, formed last year when three previous Frome Junior Football Clubs came together as one during the pandemic. We offer football for boys and girls from Primary School right through to young adults where we feed into both Frome Town Men's team and Frome Town Women's Team. Around 700 boys and 100 girls play football with us every week - we charge parents an annual fee and receive some funding from football related bodies and charities, however we fundraise relentlessly to meet our many costs. All our kits are 100% sponsor funded and each team has a unique sponsor that supports that team.

"The U8s and U10's Girls have been training through our Wildcats Football Programme at Frome Town United for a while, but this is the first time they've had the opportunity to have their own kit and play in matches against other local girls' teams. They recently wore their brand new kit in their first ever match against Shepton U10 Girls which was a fantastic, close game for both teams and a massively positive event for girls' football – our U8 girls will repeat this in a couple of weeks when take on Shepton's U8's in their new Barratt-sponsored kit which they'll wear with pride and loads of excitement."

Louise Ware, Sales Director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: "Both Barratt and Frome Town United will benefit greatly from the partnership. Frome Town United' continuing role in bringing people together through sport mirrors our dedication to create and build local communities. As a local business, we're proud to support the U8's and U10's girls teams and we wish them all every success this season."

Delamare Park is the first Barratt development in the country with no gas supply or connection on-site. All 82 properties are fitted with air source heat pumps as standard - a clean, highly efficient and emissions-free way of meeting a home's heating and hot water requirements.

Unlike traditional boilers which are the largest contributor to household carbon emissions[1], air source heat pumps require only water and electric connection. They absorb heat from the outside air and can operate when outside temperatures are as low as -20°C. They can reduce homeowners' carbon footprint by more than two tonnes per year, contributing up to 20 per cent less CO2 emissions than gas boilers and up to 70 per cent less than electric systems[2]. Over ten years, the emissions saving could be the equivalent of 30 return flights between London and Madrid[3].

Named after Sir John de la Mare, a knight in the court of King Edward III who built nearby Nunney Castle in the 14th century, Delamare Park includes a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties. The development includes electric car charging for every home, more than three acres of open space as well as measures to support local wildlife including the planting of 178 new trees, the creation of hedgehog highways and a five-metre ecological boundary, which will be preserved for nature.
