Therapists from Bath and Frome saw for themselves on a sunny, summer evening in Corsley this week how horses can work therapeutically to improve a wide range of mental health issues.

Wandering peacefully with an open mind between three horses and an alpaca the group of 25 were able to sample through their gentle interaction how the small herd could pick up on their emotions, fears and excitement in a totally different therapeutic experience.

Helen Marton CEO from Focus Counselling in Bath said "This place is incredible. I felt a sense of calmness of being understood and of belonging. Your animals offered us an extraordinary sense of emotional connection in ways that were surprising. My team at Focus were overwhelmed by the professionalism and warmth you offered us and how the process of equine-assisted therapy can support, guide and regulate."

Nina Leijerstam, founder of Track Clinic explained why equine therapy is so transformative. "Horses instinctively sense imbalance. They draw attention to beliefs and behaviours that need releasing, free from judgement and expectation."

Over the last five years, Track Clinic has helped foster families to address attachment disorders, children with Special Educational Needs to find their agency, adults to confront PTSD and professionals to improve self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
