Not such a Dumbo idea . Well done this Purple Elephant
Not such a Dumbo idea . Well done this Purple Elephant

This plucky purple elephant was out and about in Frome today, in training for a half marathon in aid of the splendid Purple Elephant children's festival in the town.

Actually the training today was as much about making sure he could run while also being able to stay cool in the very impressive costume.

Purple Elephant do amazing work in the town aside from the splendid annual children's festival, they run support services and activities for children and families in Frome, helping to support disadvantaged families. Those services are either free or very very low cost and include early years support via Frome Toy Library and the Small Steps support group.

You can sponsor Mr Elephant himself HERE

The runner said: " My friend Dumbo is running the Bath Half Marathon on the 15th October to raise money for Purple Elephant and the children festival for the first time novice runner when not learning to fly.

And he is looking for sponsors per mile or for set distance of 13miles.He would like to raise £1000 to go to the children festival that help many children and people with additional needs with putting on activities like the zip wire and theater for free but it do cost money.

If it manages to raise more they say I can have a go on the zip wire and fly.

Dumbo is doing lots of training lifting trees and swimming in the water and he was asked to travel to Africa for a week to take part in a half marathon there and did it in 2 hours and 30 minutes. "
