Frome residents have benefited from a free home improvement event that was organised by Frome Town Council.

A mix of architects, designers and contractors all specialising in home renovation and redesign were on hand to help local people achieve their ambitions with a sustainable approach.

The Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said: "Whatever their budget or goals, Improve Don't Move gave residents an opportunity to learn more about how they could change their home in an eco-friendly way to suit them better rather than simply buying elsewhere."

Stallholders varied from IDDEA, who had a steady stream of people interested in their discounted solar offer to Wessex Resolutions CIC who provide low cost finance options.

There were also one-to-one 'ask the architect' sessions with PAAD Architects, Paul Horton Designs, Mark Kingsley Architects and MJW Architects who all offered expert advice and guidance on possible next steps for redesign.

For anyone who couldn't make the event and is interested in making their home more environmentally friendly, Frome Town Council have created the Green Directory, which is full of suppliers and businesses to help you improve your home and make it more comfortable and green.

From larger projects such as installing solar panels to smaller changes such as thermal blinds, the Green Directory has something for everyone and highlights some of the main areas for improvement: energy efficiency, renewable energy, architects, contractors, carpenters and more.

A pop-up cream tea event also took place in the café of the Town Hall to raise funds Frome Community Cars, which provides affordable transport for local people who are unable to access the things they need to due to physical disability, lack of resources or lack of services.
