In planning news this week:

An application has been put in to Mendip planners to install a 120 panel ground mount solar pv system at Selwood Manor on Jacks Lane, Spring Gardens in Frome. The application 2020/1601/LBC has been put in by Project Solar.

The Silk Mill in Merchants Barton has applied to put in a new gallery entrance building, fire escape platform and steps along with a single storey barrel-roof bar with toilets and glazed walk way. The application 2020/1557/FUL is now open for comments.

Under application Ref. No: 2020/1568/NMA, The Ring Of Bells at 75 Broadway Frome BA11 3HD has applied for some amendments following their successful planning application in March. They have applied to make changes including putting in an additional parking space and changing the garden boundary, along with other minor internal alterations to the upper floor accommodation.

And an application has been made to convert an existing barn into a single storey dwelling on land at Cherry Garden Lane in Laverton Frome. Ref. No: 2020/1577/FUL is now open for comments.

In planning decisions this week:

An application to demolish an existing single storey extension and erection of two storey and single storey rear and side extensions at 119 Broadway Frome BA11 3HQ has been approved with conditions.

Also approved with conditions a two storey rear extension and a single storey side extension at 56 Rodden Road in Frome.

And the building of a single storey rear and side extensions. and new enclosed front porch lobby at 35 Beaconsfield Way in Frome.

An application to build a first floor side extension above garage at

3 Farmhouse Drive in Frome has been approved with conditions.

Planners have decided that building a single storey rear extension at 82 Oakfield Road in Frome is not lawful.

Builders have been given the go head for a two bed house and associated works at land At 380481,154054 on the High Street in Rode.

Approval with conditions has been given to an application for Outline Planning Permission with all matters reserved for the demolition of existing workshops and erection of one live/work unit and five houses at The Chalet, Windsbatch Lane in Oldford.

An application to extend a multi-user path on land East of Whatcombe Farm Cottage, Jacks Lane, Spring Gardens in Frome has been approved with conditions.

Internal alterations and layout re-arrangement can be carried out at Flat 1, 2 Bath Street in Frome.

There is no objection to tree works at 40 Nunney Road in Frome.

Or for work on an Ash tree at 4-5 Monmouth House on Cork Street.

Meanwhile the opponents to the current proposed plans for the Saxonvale site in the centre of Frome have begun releasing architectural drawings for how they would prefer the site to look.

The Mayday Saxonvale campaign says that their alternative masterplan will demonstrate that the future use of Saxonvale can involve everyone, and be environmentally responsible. They describe what is currently on the board as "horrendous".
