At the heart and in the heart of Frome, after weeks of renovation The George at Market Place in Frome is about to re-open to the public.

As the preview shots show, the essence of the pub is still as warm and welcoming.

But it has had a welcome spruce up, with a new, longer bar, the Granary reworked and the space through a newly exposed old doorway as you head right through the pub, recreated as a new snug.

The Frome Mayor enjoys the pre-opening VIP event at The George

The hotel rooms at The George Hotel and Granary will be renovated in stage two of the refurbishment, but as Nub News can attest, the all-important toilets HAVE been given a make over.

But what was also welcome to see was that at the pre-re-opening event, The George which many regulars love because it has not changed over the years, has retained the same old-fashioned feel and welcome.

So this Frome treasure, which is believed to date back to 1650, retains the same charm it always had and which has been enjoyed by so many.

On March 1, the official opening party will have the following in terms of entertainment:

5.45pm - TOWN CRIER SPEECH & RIBBON CUT

6-7pm - BRASS BAND AND DRUM IT UP PERFORMING FROM THE BALCONY

10% OFF ALL DRINKS

7-9pm - LIVE MUSIC FROM ANDY OVERTON

9-11pm - DRAG ENTERTAINMENT FROM PIXIE PEREZ
