When former Frome College student Lauren Mead, died suddenly aged 19, she was a victim of Sudden Arrhythmic Death syndrome, or SADS.

But although it effects around 500 people in the UK every year. her brother has said that along with so many others he had never even heard of it.

Now the family has made a film about Lauren, who had previously been a pupil at Hayesdown First School, which they hope will raise awareness of the issue.

Lauren died in 2019 and tomorrow the BBC will broadcast a film with an interview with her brother Patrick who talks about the family's sudden and horrifying loss.

Sudden cardiac arrest is believed to be the third biggest killer of young people in the UK.

The film will be broadcast on April 14 .

Since Lauren's death Patrick, along with students at Frome College have raised thousands for the cardiac charity.

You can watch the film, Sudden Death: My Sister's Silent Killer, on Wednesday 14 April at 10.45pm on BBC 1.

It is also on BBC Three https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree and iPlayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer.

There will be a feature piece about the family's loss in The Daily Telegraph newspaper, tomorrow (April 14). They will also be doing interviews about the film including one on BBC1 (at 08:40) and on Sky News (09:40).
