It has been a two year struggle, but Frome is about to get a new climbing centre.
Offering 6,500 square foot of climbing in a dedicated 15,000 square foot
space overlooking Whatcombe Fields, the independent bouldering centre will provide climbing lovers and newbies, a world-class facility. A pair of climbing enthusiasts have been working on the plans for the climbing centre for the past two years and have had to overcome losing their original venue - and the coronavirus pandemic. But now it is opening up in July - just in time for the Olympics which, for the first time, will have climbing as a sport in the games. Charly told Nub News : " My partner and I have been working on an exciting development in Frome for the last couple of years now. "It has been an interesting road we've travelled, with the falling through of our original location and then a global pandemic, but we are well and truly on our way to having a brand new Indoor Bouldering Centre, due to open in Frome in early July. "The facility will be open to all ages and abilities, with a dedicated children's area and cafe onsite and we hope to become a real community hub, based around climbing - a massively growing sport UK and worldwide.
