This Monday sees the Samaritan's new campaign called "Brew Monday". It's more important than ever to stay connected, especially during lockdown when we are unable to physically see friends and loved ones.
This year Frome Town Council, Health Connections Mendip and businesses across the town are supporting the campaign by encouraging everyone to stay connected with a warming cuppa.
So why not reach out to a friend, family member or colleague for a virtual cuppa and a chat. Or grab your coat and have a cuppa over the fence with your neighbour. It doesn't have to be a Monday or a cup of tea, just taking time to really listen to another person could really help them work through what's on their mind.
Many of the streets in Frome's Neighbourhood Network Group have set up regular door step tea breaks on their streets to help them feel more connected, you could do the same with your neighbours.
Cllr Mark Dorrington said: "Last year at the start of the pandemic we asked for folks to check in with their five nearest neighbours and to stay connected with those that they know; as we've re-entered lockdown now is the perfect time to do so again.
"When you're having your morning cuppa, why not have a think about who you could call and give them a ring, it could perk up their day no end. Because now more than ever, sharing a cuppa is more than a drink – it's about reaching out, checking in and staying connected."
If you need some help with your mental health, Mindline Somerset offer a confidential listening service which provides a safe place to talk if you, or someone you know, is in distress. They can also give information about mental health and local support services. The service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be contacted on 01823 276 892.
