The bunting is out, the band is ready, now it is time to celebrate the four day bank holiday Jubilee weekend.

There are lots of events in and around Frome.

Here they are:

Thursday, kick it all off, but don't kick the stones, that will hurt. The jubilee stones will be unveiled at the picnic to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations which is being held at the Old Showfield on Thursday 2nd June from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone welcome, join with a picnic and relax in the sunshine in one of the town's most glorious open spaces and admire the blossom circle with new easily accessible pathways created by the Town Rangers.

The ceremonial stones on either side of the circle have been kindly donated by local quarries and Curtis Ilott has provided the inscription work. Fun and games (including a dog agility course) and acoustic music from Dom & Belle. Enjoy refreshments from Active and in Touch's tea ladies, The Crumpeteers, or something more cooling from Tony's ice cream or Flow on the go.

Later on, in the absence of a beacon, Frome will light its special Valentine Lamp at the top of Catherine Hill, for a show of love for the monarchy.

Friday. If you prefer your celebrations a bit silent, then THIS is the event for you. A silent royal disco at South Parade. Details HERE

Dress up like royalty, grab a tiara or a tux. Here are some ideas for where you can get your costume, one of the charity shops in the heart of Frome.

On Saturday many roads in Frome will be bringing on the scones with a right royal street party. There are two already listed

  • Old Paintworks Road, Frome – 2-10pm
  • Selwood Road, Frome – noon-8pm

But Frome Nub News knows that there will be many other parties in and around town, including these on Sunday,

  • Barn Close, 10am-6pm
  • Orchard Close, Frome –  noon-6pm
  • Penneys Piece, Frome – 9am-11pm

If you want to leave town on Saturday - it will be full steam ahead over at the Midsomer Norton heritage station, with free rides, a treasure hunt and a real ale and cider festival in the sidings. More details HERE:

Then on Sunday afternoon.

Frome Town Band will be playing at Victoria Park Sunday 5th June 3pm. Last weekend the popular band were helping at the annual well blessing in Frome.

And it will also be the Frome Independent. So the town will be buzzing.
