UPDATED : (19:14) The fire is now extinguished and all crews have left the scene. The building sustained 90% damage from fire. The cause has been established as accidental.

If you heard fire sirens earlier today out of Frome this is why.

At just past two pm today (May 4) fire control received numerous calls to a barn on fire at Coleford.

Three crews were immediately mobilised alongside a water carrier.

Within minutes the incident commander confirmed that the barn on Vobster Hill was well alight and requested a further three fire appliances for additional personnel and water, and a further 4 x 4 for assistance moving kit around the fire ground.

Due to an increase in smoke around the area, the incident commander asked control to advise the public within the village to keep windows and doors closed.

Crews are at work extinguishing the fire using two breathing apparatus, five 45mm jets and one ground monitor with water coming from a nearby pond.
