Now in their sixth year, The British Takeaway Awards (BTAs) return to celebrate independent takeaways across the UK, many of which are small, family run businesses at the heart of their community. Consumer voting is open and people across the country can now vote for their favourite local takeaway.

For over half a decade people have voted in their droves to crown their favourite local takeaway as the best takeaway in the region. The five takeaways that receive the most votes in each of twelve regions across the UK will be invited to a star-studded awards ceremony at the prestigious Victorian era venue, Old Billingsgate Market, London on 6th September 2021 - where the winning takeaways from each region will also be in the running to be crowned "Best Takeaway in Britain".

Last year, the Trowbridge-based Mexican restaurant Nacho Cheese was crowned Best Takeaway in Britain and the South West.

Owner Lorraine Priestly said: "Winning the British Takeaway Awards in 2019 was an amazing experience and really highlighted all the hard work we put in to ensuring our customers enjoy our food to the highest of standards. We are so proud to have achieved this award. Since winning the award for the best takeaway in Britain and the Southwest we've really noticed how the title helps us stand out from the crowd in our area, and for anyone considering entering or nominating their favourite local takeaway I'd highly recommend it!"

Alongside the regional awards and the Best Takeaway in Britain award, there are other Judge's Awards which restaurants can enter including Best Takeaway Chef in Britain and the newly added "Good Deed Hero" award - which will honour a restaurant that has gone above and beyond serving their community during the pandemic. Also new for 2021 is the "Best Restaurant Chain in Britain" award, Brits can vote for their favourite small chain (6 - 30 sites) as well as for their favourite independent restaurant by clicking HERE : the takeaway site'
