A welcome home side win
A welcome home side win

Match report by Andy Vince.

The Frome RFC 2nd XV welcomed North Dorset RFC 1st XV to the lane, in the penultimate fixture of the season. , and it was a battle of two Packs, North Dorset started the better, and were two scores ahead before Prop Jason Baraclough scored for the home side. This was followed up by another try by North Dorset but No.8 Bailey Brook scored before half time to keep the home side in touch.

The second half continued the same as the first half with the two packs going at one another with some strong running from both teams.

No.8 Brook went over again to put the home side with in 3 points.

North Dorset's defence held firm and despite Frome's best efforts they couldn't find away through. Then with five minutes to go North Dorset had a penalty kick from a long way out, and pointed at the posts. The kick fell short but was knocked on giving North Dorset scrum in front of the posts on the 22.

But Frome had other ideas and a good tackle by scrum half Callum Close lead to a penalty and Frome worked their way down the pitch, and with one minute left on the clock Frome kicked for the corner and drove for the line.

Some great defence by North Dorset kept Frome out, but with the last play of the game, Frome's No.8 Brook managed to crash over and dot the ball down giving the win to the home side.

FT: Frome RFC II 25-23 North Dorset RFC

Player of the Match went to No.8 Bailey Brook for his hat trick of tries and his all round good play through out the game.

Frome RFC 2nd XV Team manager, Andy Vince commented "We have had a very difficult season and this win means a lot to all the players. I was especially happy for Captain Ethan White, who has kept going through out the season and kept rallying his players. This was a great result."

This weekend the Frome RFC 2nd XV play the last league fixture of the league season with a home match against Blandford RFC.
