Let there be light , first day of Spring in Frome

It may have been a dull and overcast day in Frome but in cheerful news, it will be getting lighter from now on.
This morning (March 20) was the beginning of the March equinox (also known as the spring equinox or vernal equinox) when the sun crosses the equator line, heading north.
This means the sun is climbing the sky at its maximum rate, so we can all expect over two minutes more daylight each day morning and evening from now on.
The word equinox comes from the Latin words for "equal nightaequus (equal) and nox (night). On the equinox, the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world.
And don't forget the clocks go forward by one hour next Saturday night, so it will be light until well after 8pm as we end the month.
