Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) have partnered with local Great British Bake Off star, Briony May Williams, to launch an exciting new virtual event. Taking place from the 19th August, 'Home Baker; Mission Maker' aims to get people baking, having fun, and raising money for a local lifesaving cause.

Upon registering participants will receive a link to two special recipes created by Briony, as well as an invitation to donate to the charity and nominate their friends and family to take their turn. After completing their bakes, people can submit a photo to be judged by Briony, with prizes including an escape room experience from Locked in a Room, a voucher from Cotswold Farm Park, and a luxury hamper from Rococo Chocolates.

Throughout COVID-19, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity's crew have remained right here and ready to respond, providing their lifesaving emergency care to those in urgent need across the region, as well as supporting the NHS in their response to the pandemic. To date this year, GWAAC's Critical Care Team have responded to almost 1,000 call-outs.

The charity's emergency crew, which consists of Critical Care Doctors and Specialist Paramedics are called to around five critically-ill or injured patients a day on average, with each response costing around £2,000. As a charity, GWAAC receives no day-to-day funding from the NHS or Government, and the vital service needs to raise over £4 million a year to remain operational.

With the cancellation of many events this year meaning an expected loss in fundraising income for the local charity, it's more important than ever to support your local air ambulance.

Briony said: "I'm delighted to be involved in the GWAAC Home Baker: Mission Maker event. Baking is such a fun activity to get all the family involved and you're raising money for such a great cause. So get baking, donating and nominating!"
