The Mendip planning department's computer system has been undergoing a bit of an upgrade, so apologies this is later than normal.

In planning applications in and around Frome this week:

The formal application has validated by planners on the existing application to put in to build 27 homes, which will, the developers say, include affordable housing, at Fortescue Fields in Norton St Phillip. This is phase two of the work and includes the retention of an existing tree belt, an additional tree belt, and provision of 0.24 hectares of what planners refer to as 'bat replacement habitat'.

In Buckland Dinham they want to re-build the water pumping station, and put solar panels on the roof on land at Elm Lane . That is Ref. No: 2020/2468/FUL.

In Mells, homeowners want to build a detached timber framed annex and double garage along with a detached log cabin summer house at

The Firs (Lavender House) on Top Lane, postcode BA11 3QN

Ref. No: 2020/2405/HSE.

They have applied to build an agricultural storage building on land at Bunns Lane Witham Friary Frome Somerset. Reference No: 2020/2470/FUL.

And in Standerwick an application under Ref. No: 2020/2347/FUL has been put in to replace an existing park home with new wooden static unit. The address for that is The Old Coach House on Marsh Road BA11 2PZ.

Planning decisions in and around Frome this week have included:

The resubmission of plans to make changes to the windows and add a new pitched front porch at 34 Packsaddle Way in Frome, have been approved with conditions.

Also approved with conditions, an application to build a single storey rear extension at 16 Farmhouse Drive in Frome.

Planners have no objections to plans to prune back a Birch tree at

Westerley House on Tellisford Lane in Tellisford in Frome.

They have no objections to tree works, including reducing a Willow tree by half at 70 Keyford in Frome.

Or any objections to felling a Cherry and Pear tree at 61 Nunney Road in Frome.

Or to cutting down the Conifer at 1 Egypt Cottages on the Top Lane in Mells.

There is no objection either to plans to prune a Cypress at 2 North Parade in Frome and no objection to cutting back the Cedar at 14 Bath Street.

Homeowners at 7 Vallis Road in Frome can fell their Lawson Cypress tree.

An application for lawful development certificate for a single storey rear extension at 11 Magnolia Close in Frome, has been granted.

A certificate has also been granted to the application for a single storey rear extension at 73 Lynfield Road in Frome.

An application to build a detached garden room at 3 Foxcote Gardens in Frome has been approved.

An application to build a single storey extension at Oakford on the Frome Road in Nunney has been withdrawn.

The building of a loft conversion and the installation of new floor beams, new staircase and rooflight at 26 Avenue Road in Frome, has been ruled lawful.

The application for approval of details reserved under conditions on the listed building consent for Garston Lodge on Garsdale in Frome (which was badly damaged by fire in 2018) have been approved. The conditions include how the stone work is cleaned, re-pointing and that the company behind the building work put across photographic evidence of how the property looks.

Plans to demolish a redundant steel frame barn and convert redundant stone barns into a house at Hippisley Farm on East End Lane in Chewton Mendip, have been approved.

And Mendip Planners have approved, with conditions, the project to convert and extend redundant agricultural barns into four homes at

Court Farm on the Blatchbridge roundabout at Woodlands in Frome.
